I came across this book in the local Christian bookstore, and I must admit...I did not know what to expect. Most of the books I have read about prayer and intercession were either too technical or too basic. I had many questions like...was what I was experiencing scriptural or was I just nuts?!?! This book answered all my questions. This is an excellent book for the everyday intercessor while addressing many things us "crazimatics" experience in prayer. This is truly an anointed book, and I recommend it for the beginner or seasoned intercessor.

Blessings and Curses
|
by Derek Prince (Author)
You may be under a curse and not even know it., December 8, 2003
Reviewer: A customer from Caldwell, ID United States
The premise of this book in the author's own words is that "both blessings and curses are real. Some people accept the fact that blessings are real but are skeptical about curses, which they associate with superstitious medieval practices. Yet we cannot focus exclusively on one aspect of opposites because it is acceptable to us and simply ignore the other. The opposite of hot is cold; both are real. The opposite of good is evil; both are real and in the same way blessings are real and so are curses."
The book explains where curses stem from, how to recognize them and how we can, in Jesus holy name, break these curses in our lives. Powerful stuff! Really made me think!

The Prayer of Jabez: Breaking Through to the Blessed Life
|
by Dr H. Bruce Wilkinson (Author)
From Amazon.co.uk
Even well-versed Biblical scholars might be perplexed if asked about Jabez, a little-known man listed in 1 Chronicles, chapter 4. Yet his simple petition is the cornerstone of The Prayer of Jabez and has become a call to live a more "blessed life" for countless readers.
The prayer is a simple one: "And Jabez called on the God of Israel saying, 'Oh, that You would bless me indeed, and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would be with me, and that You would keep me from evil, that I may not cause pain.' So God granted him what he requested."
In an era where many Christians shy away from anything that smacks of "name it and claim it," author Bruce Wilkinson alleviates misgivings by putting the prayer into perspective. Wilkinson, founder and president of Walk through the Bible Ministries and a popular speaker for Promise Keepers, writes in a persuasive, conversational style that will woo even the most cynical reader. He has used the Jabez prayer for more than 30 years, and testifies enthusiastically to the changes it has wrought in his own life. Wilkinson challenges readers to recite the Jabez prayer every morning and keep a record of the changes that occur. The power, he emphasizes, is not in the prayer itself, but "rather, the power is in what you believe will happen as a result of the prayer, and the action you take". Wilkinson makes a convincing case. --Cindy Crosby

The Power of a Praying Woman: Prayer Journal
|
by Stormie Omartian (Author)
The prayers of the righteous availeth much, January 3, 2002
Reviewer: A customer from Cincinnati, OH United States
I began using this book one year after I was married, and all I could think about once I began reading it was "Why didn't I start this sooner!" Prayer truly does change things. It has been wonderful seeing the changes that God has done in my husband all because I prayed for him, but the most amazing thing for me has been the changes that have occurred in me, as a result of my prayers for my husband. I believe that when we truly submit to God in prayer he will open our minds to areas in our lives where we have been resistant. This resistants may be what has been inhibiting our mate from change.
