The Calvary Road
by Roy Hession (Author)
Description:
A lot of great stuff in a tiny little book, January 20, 2003
Reviewer: Ryan LeBlanc from Toronto, Ontario Canada
The Calvary Road is a small book, barely 100 pages. It has so much quality revelation in it, that it has better content than most 200-300 page books.
Roy Hession really wrote a timeless classic when he authored this book. I have never read a better description of the need to walk in the light. Hession describes why it is important for Christians to walk in openness, brokenness, and transparency. I was continually amazed at how Hession was able to communicate such vital and important messages in so few words and sentences. As I was reading this book I could sense the light in my head turning on and realizing how this book was talking about my life.
This is one of the books that really has to become foundational in a Christian's library. Some books are called, "Essential" to the Christian faith. This book belongs under that title. This book can be read in one sitting, easily. It's the kind of title that you want to review at least once per year.
Never before have I seen a book like this. The major theme to this book is the concept of walking in the light. This is an issue that hasn't gotten enough attention in the Christian world. This message can't be ignored by any Christian. Catholic, Baptist, Methodist, etc. this book applies to you. Many Christian churches do things very differently, but this principle of walking in the light can't be ignored by any of us. And because of a user friendly book like this, ignorance isn't an excuse for any of us.
I highly recommend this book to ALL Christians. Roy Hession has produced such a great title that all Christians should read it at least once. --.
Discover Your God Given Gifts
by Don and Kate Fortune (Author)
Description: This book was the best book I've read on motivational gifts., September 13, 1999
Reviewer: A customer from Baltimore, Maryland
I had been searching for a good book that could be used as a study guide for my church, Bethel A.M.E. in Baltimore, MD. This book was a blessing. It clear, easy to read and explained the motive gifts in wonderful way. The surveys included in each chapter were great! The results brought about some surprises to my students who thought they knew their gifts. Don and Katie Fortune were careful to not only teach but to give real life examples that gave "legs" to their teaching.
God at Work: Discovering the Anointing for Business
by Tommy Tenney (Foreword), Rich Marshall (Author)
Description: Are You a Bored Christian?, May 11, 2004
Reviewer: Sunny Lemming, Vocational Counselor from South Lake Tahoe, CA United States
Many Christians become pew-sitters and feel bored with their lives. Spiritual apathy can result as they suffer from a non-Biblical but traditional mindset that "professional" ministers are the really special ones while they are just ordinary nobodies. The Bible states that everyone is relevant and needed in the kingdom of God; each one with a destiny and ministry! This book is inspirational and helps us to see a place where each person can express who God created them to be and use it for the up-building of the Kingdom. A liberating paradigm shift!
The Spiritual Secret of Hudson Taylor
by Howard Taylor (Author), Howard, Mrs. Taylor (Author)
A good book, October 30, 2001
Reviewer: Jay Koshy from NY USA
I read this book and found it inspiring and helpful. I particularly found the secret that Hudson Taylor speaks of relevant to transforming and deepening immensely my own walk with God. Not only I, but years ago my father's life was dramatically changed as he was inspired to have faith in the God who took care of Hudson Taylor as a missionary in China. After reading this book my father was able to put confidence in the Lord to take care of him as he stepped out into full time Christian service. (Hudson Taylor relied on God to provide for all of his needs and would not tell others what his financial needs were. God was faithful to meet all of Taylor's needs as well as the missionary society he founded. But there is far more in this book than that).
If you are looking for a deeper, intimate walk with God then read this book. Or if you struggle with living faithfully, joyfully and consistently for the Lord then read this book. The spiritual transformation that occurred to Hudson Taylor took place after years of service on the mission field. Many Christians, like Hudson Taylor did, will benefit to find the secret of that transformation. I did.
